Eye of the Day opened in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley of California following Brent and Suzi Freitas' move from Los Angeles, fulfilling the wish to raise their young daughter away from the big city. Brent's strong love of gardening lead them to launch a business selling oak wine barrel planters and shortly after, in 1995, they opened a small retail garden shop focusing on planters, benches, statues, fountains and garden gift items.
Eye of the Day in Santa Ynez was lost in the El Niño storm on February 3, 1998, but with a disaster loan from FEMA, it quickly reopened in Carpinteria, California, a lively beach community just south of Santa Barbara. After thirteen years of steady growth, Eye of the Day now boasts the largest selection and inventory of high-end European garden decor in the United States. The focus is on top quality, authentic products, providing a number of services to further the value of those products and offering excellent customer service to both retail and trade customers.
