Anduze is a small town in Provence, with its own distinctive style of pottery. Anduze pottery is represented most famously by its distinctive vases, created in the 16th century by a potter inspired by Italian Medicis vases. The Anduze Vase is an enduring tradition. Even today, contemporary artisans painstakingly detail the garlands and medallions by hand, and create a variety of textural effects with glazes.
